This is probably one of the most unique establishments I've been to in the Twin Cities. The small brewery is in a historic 1800s refurbished cottage and this environment just adds to the experience. They have a fantastic array of German inspired snacks and refreshing beers. Everytime we go, a large pretzel with all of the savory mustards (my dad said it's been some of the best mustard he's had) is a must. Looking back, I've only ever been during mid winter or thunderstorms... the cozy atmosphere and crisp beer must be appealing.

Met the owner, he was very knowledgeable about the building & history about the city. Awesome guy. Beer is great. Beers were crispy & fresh. Ordered trout dip. The dip was delicious, nice smokey taste. Pretzel had a couple sauces to use. All good. I'd strongly suggest visiting before a Wild game or if you're in the area.

This place is everything! The ambience- adorable and cozy, the staff- helpful, the beer- perfection, and the food- chefs kiss! I wish I lived closer but even the 40min drive from my house is worth a visit to Waldmann. There aren't many places you can go anymore where you truly get to have a curated, yet relaxed experience. The vibe is casual, yet you can feel the history in the walls and the intention of what they are trying to do here. Truly a gem in the cities! I am sure to stop in anytime I'm nearby.

If you like beer you have to go here! One of the oldest buildings in St. Paul let alone one of the oldest breweries. These people really know beer. So well crafted, so unique. You might as well be in Germany The food is good too and the ambience is just so unique. A real treasure!!

One of our favorite places in St. Paul. Old-time brewery vibe with great beers and outdoor seating area. Personally I always get the lager as it is one of the better ones I've had. My wife gets one of the special NA soda options and is always happy. Honestly, she'd go here weekly if she could. Food is great. Italian beef and burger are excellent but we've had entrees before and have loved everything we've gotten. We always get the trout dip for appetizer. Excellent and the veggies with it stand in well for a salad. Service is always top-notch and professional. They had a band playing this night and we sat upstairs and it was pretty awesome to have the music in the background. We'll be back 100 times or more!

Hubby and I were visiting from California and our friends took us there to explore a different cuisine and wow we love it all, my favorite was the wurst platter with the cabbage so good. The beer was very tasty. The place has so much history was constructed in 1857. The Waldmann stay true to their traditions if you are in Minnesota you must try. The service was wonderful, a very polite gentleman explaining every question we had and always with a smile on his face. The ambiance is perfect we were outside, they have a nice patio with cute flowers to look around. The only thing has no parking you need to look for one or paid for parking closer to the restaurant. But it's worth it..

What a hidden gem. Tucked in a little neighborhood beside the Mississippi River in an old house, it's so cool. Reading the description of the place on the menu is amazing. They have a picture of Abraham Lincoln that was taken 3 years after they opened. Theres also a stuffed bison upstairs! We had a bratvwith potato salad that was delicious. Probably some of the best German mustard I've ever had. Thevstaff was amazing! Super friendly and helpful. When we told them we thought one of the Bert's was off, he immediately explained it was the last keg of an older version and replaced it. Gonna be a must stop place for us now

I came here on a Tuesday afternoon in April for the first time and had a perfect experience from start to finish. I'm from out of town, but my sister lives nearby. We have both lived in Germany at various times in our lives, and we both love history, so a German themed brewery and restaurant in a 19th century German lager saloon is a no brainer for us. The interior is seriously impressive; from the period maps and pictures on the walls, the stereograph and other period pieces on the shelves, to the pinewood floors, wood burning stoves, whale oil lamps, etc, it's like stepping back in time. The love and care that went into restoring this building is commendable. I'm a huge beer nerd and I can genuinely say the beer was fantastic. My girlfriend joined us and between us we tried the Altbier, Bockbier, and the Schwarzbier. All were good but the Bockbier was truly outstanding. Highly recommend it. We also had the pretzel with cheese dip which was also excellent. According to their website, they also offer live music, brewery tours, and history events and lectures. I've been to St. Paul numerous times to visit my sister and am kicking myself that it took this long to come to Waldmann, but will definitely make up for it the next time I'm in town. Can't wait to come back.

Definitely start with the freshly baked Biergarten pretzel with mustard and cheese dips. Yum! I had the chicken schnitzel, and was surprised when I got a fat chicken breast instead of a thinly pounded piece of meat as I've had before in Germany. But it was juicy and crispy, so also good. The tender, fluffy spaetzle tastes light and buttery, with a sprinkle of fresh herbs. We also had the käsespätzle with bratwurst; which my husband likes. The burger comes with bacon and a generous piece of lettuce and tomato.
